Breeding hints:

Hexarthrius are considered to be more tricky to breed than other Lucanidae. Eggs are laid into relatively hard white rotten wood.  Once all breeding conditions are supplied, Hexarthrius seem to be quite prolific breeders. Larger males take more time to develop and precautions must be taken to have females and males hatch at the same time, e.g. through keeping some male larvae at higher temperatures. These will be very small specimen when they hatch.
