Breeding hints:
Amaurodes passerini is a rather easy to breed species. The females will lay eggs in the standard substrat. I had good results with a slightly drier leaf litter. The larvae are very cannibalistic and it is important to separate them as soon as the hatch. You can raise the larvae on the normal substrate and will get relatively small imagos. For large specimen it is advisable to feed the larvae with proteins. I found the easiest and least risky method, in terms of mite and mold infestations, to add larvae of non-cannibalistic species as a feeder.
The technology of feeding additional proteins has greatly advanced since the initial times of feeding cat food, and good results are achieved for example with silkworm powder and casein.
