Distribution:
Sardignia, Italy
Breeding hints:
Dorcus musimon has been bred for many generations by Japanese hobbyists. I have no first hand experience with this species but was told that the breeding of this species is similar to the breeding of Dorcus parallelopipedus: Eggs will be laid into relatively hard white rotten wood, which will also be eaten by the larvae.
