Breeding hints:
Phalacrognathus muelleri is one of the most colourful of all Lucanidae. On top of that it is quite easy to breed and it is not a surprise that it is widespread in the hobby. In the wild, P. muelleri is considered quite a rare species and especially large specimen were sold for very high prices, prior to being mass reproduced in the breeding rooms of hobbyists. This species will easily lay eggs into white rotten wood and the raising of larvae poses no great difficulties. Some breeders use protein additives to increase the size of the resulting beetles.
