Breeding hints:
Prosopocoilus savagei was the first Lucanidae species that I have kept and bred. I had the subspecies of Prosopocoilus savagei surtur, but suspect that the breeding for all subspecies would be the same. That time, I used relatively soft white rotten pieces of Cherry wood, but any other broad leaved tree species should do as well. The female was chewing small holes into the wood pieces and hid the eggs inside. I kept the larvae in soft white rotten wood, after I had separated them into 1 liter containers. Rearing the larvae did not pose any problems and I managed to get some nice, but minor sized, imagines.
