Distribution:
Borneo, Malaysia
Breeding hints:
Odontolabis hitam is a very nice species from the Borneo part of Malaysia. The name is quite fitting, because ‘hitam’ in Bahasa Melayu means ‘black’. I am not sure if this species has been bred already, but there have been exports of living specimen to Japan at least. If you have any breeding information, please do share your knowledge.
Odontolabis normally make for a good beginners choice. Of course there are some difficult to breed species, but the major challenge in breeding Odontolabis normally lays in achieving telodont males rather than just reproducing the species.
